Tips for a Great Project Post
Follow these tips to create a project listing that will attract the best tech volunteers for your cause.
Start with a Clear Goal
Instead of saying "we need a new website," try "we need a new website to increase online donations by 30% and make it easier for new members to sign up." A clear goal helps volunteers understand the *why* behind your project.
Define Specific Deliverables
Break down your project into smaller, concrete tasks. For example, "design a new homepage," "create a contact form," and "set up a blog section." This makes the project feel more manageable and less overwhelming.
List Required Skills (and Be Honest!)
Be specific about the skills you need (e.g., "PHP," "WordPress," "UI/UX Design," "Data Analysis with Python"). It's also okay to say you're not sure! Volunteers can help you figure out the technical details.
Highlight Your Mission
Volunteers are motivated by impact. Share a brief story about your organization and who you help. Explain how this project will make a real difference in the lives of the people you serve.
Be Realistic About Time
Provide an honest estimate of the time commitment you expect. Is this a quick, one-weekend project or a longer-term commitment of a few hours per week? Clear expectations lead to happy collaborations.
